MODERN FAMILY HOME

This dramatic site sits high above the Kennebec River and provides unparalleled  views.  The weekend retreat and summer home consists of four separate buildings and pool situated along the linear rock promontory.  The client intended the main house to be modern in design while the remaining structures were styled in the local New England vernacular.  The main house's front façade consists of granite boulders quarried and cut on site.  The building's remaining facade's are retractable glass panels that allow the river views and cool air to penetrate the inner most portions of the home.  The remaining buildings provide guest quarters, a screened pool house with guest suite on the upper floor and a 'barn' that houses a movie theater, fitness room, bunk room , garage and basketball court.
